The Engineer’s Day-2022

Engineer’s Day was celebrated in a grand manner at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology on 15th September 2022 to commemorate the birth anniversary of  Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The Bharat Ratna awardee, Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861, in a village called Muddenahalli in Karnataka. He had studied Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Madras and pursued civil engineering at the College of Science in Pune. He later patented and installed an irrigation system with water floodgates at the Khadakvasla reservoir near Pune to raise the food supply level and storage to the highest levels. This was also installed at Gwalior’s Tigra Dam and Mysuru’s Krishnaraja Sagara (KRS) dam, the latter of which created one of the largest reservoirs in Asia at the time.

 Ms. R S Nivea, Final Year IT welcomed the gathering. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr.RMS Parvathi, HOD/CSE. The introduction of the chief guest was given by Dr.B.Chokkalingam, Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The special Engineer’s Day address was delivered by Dr.V.Anandaraj, Manager, Global Operation Excellence, Flowserve Corporation, Coimbatore. The chief guest delivered an excellent speech for the younger generation of Engineers. He pointed out the importance of honesty, Confidence, effort, and leadership skills for emerging mechanical engineers to raise their careers. Mr. D.Dhanapal, Final Year Mechanical Engineering delivered the Vote of Thanks. This program was organized by Dr.S.Benjamin Franklin, Associate Professor Gr-1, Mr.B.Varun Assistant Professor(Sl.Gr), and Mr. R.Tamilselvan, Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering.
