The Youth Red Cross of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology conducted an awareness programme on “Road Safety” through online mode. The resource persons for this programme were Pulavar R.Manickam, District Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu District and Mr N.Prasath, Life Member, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu District. They discussed the driving safety tips for a safe journey, breakdown safety, safety at level crossings, functions of Indian Road Council, National Road Safety Policy, 3 ‘E’s – Engineering, Enforcement and Education for a safer city, the reasons for road accidents, usage of SOS (Save our Souls) emergency call box in highways and the need for detection of an over-speeding vehicle’s on highways to reduce the accidents. Eighty-one students of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology participated in this awareness program and the programme was very useful for students.
