SRIT is the R&D partner of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on the Aakash Project which was funded by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), Government of India. Among various engineering institutions in India, IIT Bombay has identified nearly 240 engineering institutions as R&D Partners to lead a nation-wide collaborative research initiative on Aakash Project. SRIT is one among the 240 engineering colleges in India.
The main objective of the project is taking the next generation technology such as tablet PC to the class room teaching. By this collaborative research work, new innovative educational applications and contents will be developed by the students and faculty of SRIT and other project centers across India. These applications and contents will get published in the open source. The quality of education can be improved considerably by proper use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to supplement the conventional mode of education. Aakash Tablets will serve the purpose and bring revolution to the Indian Education System.

We had received 246 AAKASH Tablets from IIT Bombay to conduct Research and Development in Aakash Tablets.
