One Day Workshop on Soil Structure Interaction Modelling using Soft Computing Techniques (PLAXIS)

The Department of Civil Engineering and Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Students’ Chapter of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, conducted a One-day Workshop on “Soil Structure Interaction Modelling using Soft Computing Techniques (PLAXIS)” on 27th September 2018. Mr B. R. Rajarathnam, Proprietor, Rajarathnam & Associates, Coimbatore inaugurated the workshop and Dr M. Paulraj presided over the inaugural function. Mr Rajarathnam insisted that the soil structure modelling techniques are absolutely important for any civil engineer, having a scope to change the scenario for the next 10 years. He elaborated that the knowledge of soil interactions is an underscore for the civil engineering field. He also advised the students to come out of their comfort zone and focus on life for better achievements in the future.
Dr A. R. Prakash, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, Sona College of Technology, Salem handled the session on “Soil Structure Interactions”. He also gave hands-on Training of PLAXIS software to the students in the afternoon session. A total of 110 B.E. Civil Engineering students from colleges in and around Coimbatore attended the workshop.
