One Day Workshop on “Experimental Learning”

On 9th May 2023, the Experiential Learning Centre and the Department of
Mechanical Engineering organized a one-day workshop on “Experiential Learning”. The
workshop was coordinated by Dr.M.Veeramanikandan and was inaugurated by
Dr.B.Chokkalingam, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, at
9:50 am. The workshop was aimed at introducing the faculty members to the concept of
experiential learning, which involves learning through personal experience and
reflection. The morning session included presentations and discussions on the basics of
experiential learning, the benefits of using it in education, and how it can be
incorporated into the curriculum. The participants engaged in group discussions and
brainstorming sessions, which helped them to understand the practical implications of
the concept.
In the afternoon session, at 2:00 pm, the faculty members were given hands-on
training on various activities that can be used to facilitate experiential learning. These
activities included problem-solving exercises, group discussions, and team-building
games. The participants actively took part in these activities and gained first-hand
experience on how they can be used to enhance the learning experience of the
students. At 4:00 pm, a question-and-answer session was held where the faculty
members were given the opportunity to clarify any doubts they had related to the
activities. The discussion also focused on how leadership and teamwork play a crucial
role in experiential learning.
