Youth Red Cross Unit of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology conducted an awareness programme on “Cancer” on 07.11.2022 at the college premises. The resource person for this programme was Ms.Meenakshi Selvaraj, Volunteer, Vasantha Memorial Trust, Coimbatore. She briefed about cancer in India, cell regulation, ill effects of high dosage of hormones,  variety of cancer like breast cancer, blood cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, Gut cancer, and mixed tumors, and also elaborated on the testing procedures such as Mammogram, Self-examination procedures for breast cancer, PAP smear.   She also discussed the warning signals of cancer such as loss of appetite, weight loss, and fever. She also discussed the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco and mobile phone usage.   About one hundred and fourteen students of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology participated in this awareness programme and got benefitted.
