Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology celebrated “The Pongal Thiruvizha 2025” on 11th January 2025. The event showcased the essence of Tamil tradition and culture with the arrival of bullock carts and the vibrant music of nadaswaram and thavil, and pongal seer. The lively performance of jamaab musicians further elevated the spirits of the gathering.

                                                                                                                                                               The Pongal celebration event was presided over by Dr. J. David Rathnaraj, Principal of the institution, along with the Heads of various Departments (HODs), who graced the occasion with their presence and support. The celebrations commenced with the arrival of bullock carts and the vibrant music of nadaswaram and thavil, setting a festive tone. A beautifully arranged pongal seer added to the cultural ambiance. The lively performance of jamaab musicians further elevated the spirits of the gathering.

                                                                                                                                                                      Dr. P. Selvi, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science for Women, Coimbatore, was invited as the jury member to judge the Pongal competitions. Each department contributed to the festivities by preparing their own pongal, reflecting creativity and teamwork. The Pongal Champions Award was presented to the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering that demonstrated the most innovative contributions. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering bagged the prize for the Best Kolam for their innovative method of using powdered papaya seeds for the beautiful kolam.

Traditional games such as uri adi were played with great enthusiasm, accompanied by several engaging fun games. The faculty and students participated jubilantly, making the event a memorable one.
