International Women’s Day 2023

On celebrating the International Women’s Day 2023, the SRIT International Women’s Day Conclave was organized by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and the Intelligent Signal Processing Research Cluster (ISPRC) on 8th March, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Nearly 250 participants comprising girl students, and teaching and non-teaching faculty members participated in the celebration. Dr.C.R.Hema, Professor & Head, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Convener of the Programme welcomed the gathering. Dr.M.Paulraj, Principal delivered the Presidential Address on Embrace Equity. SRIT has always taken initiative towards a gender-equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Dr.V.Kasthuri Thilagam, Senior Scientist (Soil Science), ICAR – Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu was the Chief Guest and delivered the Special Address on Women’s Day. She said that it is unfortunate that we as women have forgotten the statement of the Tamil poet Kavimani Dhesia Vinayagam Pillai “It takes a great atonement to be born as a woman”. She encouraged all the women participants to face the challenges with utmost confidence and celebrate women’s achievements by being a source of inspiration to one another.Every woman is special and plays an important role in every life.

Hence, SRIT honoured four women from Coimbatore under four different categories. Dr.A.Vasanthi, Principal (Rtd.), Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore received the honour for her contribution in the field of Education, Ms.M.Selvakumari, Inspector of Police, Perur Police Station, Coimbatore received the honour for her outstanding contribution in the field of Law and Order, Dr.G.P.Godhanavalli, Social worker, Counsellor & Entrepreneur received the honour for her service to the society in the field of Social Work and Ms.C.Sangeetha, Sambavi Women’s Self Help Group, Pachapalayam, Coimbatore received the honour for her service in the field of Entrepreneurship and Development. The Programme came to an end with a word of thanks by Dr.S.Anne Susan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.
