SRIT Science Club – Guest lecture titled “Beautiful Mathematics”
The Department of Mathematics & SRIT Science Club has successfully organised a guest lecture titled “Beautiful Mathematics” that was held on the 24th of October 2024 at the PG Seminar Hall from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Shri Sadagopan Rajesh, a renowned academic and expert in the field of mathematics, who served as the chief guest for the day. Nearly 395 students and 20 faculty members attended the event. The session began with a warm welcome extended to the chief guest and attendees by Dr. J. David Rathnaraj, Principal. Following the introduction, Prof. Rajesh took the stage, captivating the audience with his insightful talk on the elegance and intricacies of mathematics. He emphasized the beauty of mathematical concepts and their applications in various fields, showcasing how math goes beyond numbers to explain patterns in nature, technology, and everyday life. During the lecture, Prof. Rajesh elaborated on the significance of mathematical thinking, encouraging students to appreciate both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. His presentation included a variety of examples, from geometry and algebra to more advanced topics like number theory, which demonstrated the profound elegance inherent in mathematical structures.The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students and faculty members engaged Prof. Rajesh in discussions, deepening their understanding of the topics covered.
